Joining a Gym
TIPS TO KNOW BEFORE JOINING A GYM
1. Wants vs. Needs – Make a checklist of both what you would want in a gym and what you think you absolutely need in a gym. When you start visiting the gyms, make sure that they have enough cardio equipment and appropriate weights, and, if you think you might be taking classes, be sure to check out their offerings keeping in mind when they are scheduled. Visiting the gyms will also give you an opportunity to check out the cleanliness.
2. Location – Be sure to pick a gym that is either close to work, close to home, or somewhere between the two. If your gym is out of the way, it will be easier to make excuses for not going!
3. Money – Make sure that you know how much you’re willing to spend and how much you can afford. You’ll want to get the most for your money, but you also don’t want to strain your finances for an upscale club.
4. Amenities – Pools, saunas, and basketball courts are all things that can be impressive. But, are you actually going to use them? If they aren’t something you need, then don’t pick a gym where your dues are going to be higher because of all the extras.
Use this Join Gym Checklist to make sure you pick the right one!
