Apple A Day

Posted by in News

… only 36 days until the book release!

Do you remember your grandmother telling you that an apple a day keeps the doctor away?
On average, apples each contain about 80 calories.  Plus, they’re chocked full of all sorts of good things, including: phytochemicals, which act as antioxidants; fiber, which helps control blood sugar; and boron, which promotes bone growth.

Apples are also an excellent source of Vitamin C and beta carotene.  These nutrients fight cardiovascular disease and may even be helpful in fending off various types of cancer.  According to a recent study, apples (when paired with red wine and pears) were shown to reduce the chances of coronary heart disease and cardiovascular disease in post-menopausal women.

As it turns out, grandma may have been right.

Quick Tip: Apple juice can have all of the same properties and benefits; switch it up every so often and have a serving of juice instead.  Before indulging, however, make sure that the juice you select isn’t overloaded with additional sugar or calories!
