SHREDDED FOOD

Can the way a food is prepared be an optical illusion?
According to an issue of Self magazine, people look at foods that are finely sliced or shredded as being a bigger portion than the same amount of that food when it’s prepared another way.
If you’re looking for a way to add some flavor or just change things up at mealtime, try adding some shredded cheese to the top of your favorite plate or shaving chocolate over some sliced fresh fruit for dessert.  Whether you grate, mince, shred or shave, you should be able to add less and save on the calories. This same concept can also be applied to your lunch meats.  By using finely sliced or chipped meat for sandwiches, it looks like you’re eating more.  If you’re struggling with portion sizes, this may be a way to help get them under control.
