HEEL PAIN

Plantar fasciitis is one of the most common types of heel pain and usually results from a tear in the tissue that runs along the bottom of the foot.  Many times, this develops in people who exercise heavily and is especially prevalent in runners.  It can also be caused by wearing unsupportive shoes or if you have conditions such as high arches or flat feet.

Typically, rest, ice and ibuprofen will do the trick and get you back on your feet.  If you experience this problem consistently, you may want to think about getting an orthotic to help support your heel and to minimize the stress put on it.  Be sure to consult with your physician.

Also, if you are experiencing pain in one foot, be sure not to compensate by putting excess strain or pressure on the other. You don’t want to end up with two aching feet at the same time!
