Fantastic Fresh Green Bean Recipe

Posted by in News

The gardens are being planted and fresh green beans will soon be abundant! But if you get tired of just steaming the beans and eating them, I’ve got a new fresh green bean recipe for you to try.

Green beans are low in calories, high in vitamin C, antioxidants and even contain some omega-3 fatty acids which help in cardiovascular health. They also contain fiber that will help you feel full and is needed for the digestive system. Fresh green beans are always the best choice but you can also use canned or frozen beans just make sure there aren’t any additives that will take away from their benefits.

The best way to cook beans is to steam them for 5 minutes. This is enough to cook them, keep them crispy and yet keep the majority of their nutrients.

This recipe was just sent to me (thank you Devon!) and I can’t wait to try it!

I’m always watching the healthy tips go by on your feed, so here’s a suggestion. (The measurements are totally a guesstimate, I mostly wing it).

1 lb fresh green beans, cooked
2 tbsp ginger
2 tbsp soy sauce
6 tbsp sesame oil
crushed red pepper to desired hotness
1 tsp sugar (optional)

This is how I make green beans not only palatable, but downright addictive.
