The Midwest is Joining In!

smoking.jpegI was happy to see that Ohio passed an indoor smoking ban that took affect in December 2006.  I was even happier to see that now they are implementing fines for those restaurants that ignore the ban.  Then, I see that Indiana passed another tax increase on cigarettes that will cost an extra $.44 – the money will go to finance a health care program for low income individuals.  It is great to see the entire country working to eliminate or make smoking more difficult as well as combat the effects of secondhand smoke.

This is quite a big deal, especially in Indiana where you can smoke everywhere. I can't wait for the day where you can go into a store in Indiana and not have to worry about coming out smelling all smoky. I did not realize how nice it was until living in California for a little while where you can not smoke indoors any place!
