Reason #1 To Fire Your Personal Trainer
If you spend more than 20% of your training session talking, then you need a new trainer.
I have witnessed many trainers and clients gabbing and I have been guilt myself of sometimes having great conversations with a client. However, this shouldn’t be done on the clock.
When I’m training, I am squeezing absolutely everything I can into that time frame. Of course, we’ll be talking about technique, answering questions and food and workout habits, but chit chat can considerably decrease your results.
If you find that you are spending too much time talking through your session, you can do 1 of 3 things:
1 – Stop yourself from talking too much. You should be focusing on your ‘lesson’ as well as not using discussion as a stall technique!
2 – Tell your trainer that you really do enjoy talking to them but you are going to be diligent on keeping your mind on the task at hand.
3 – Find a new trainer. If they gab too much or if you have become friends – you might look into getting a new trainer because you deserve the most for your time and money. This doesn’t mean you can’t still be friends with your current trainer but just that you need to have someone that can still push you.
None of these are easy to do but remember why you hired the trainer in the first place and do what you need to do to get the job done.
