I’m so stressed I could eat a monkey! 3 Effective Stress Reducers
Stress can really take a toll on your physical and mental health. This unfortunately has been proven to make you less immune to colds and flu’s, poor job performance, make you cranky, cause skin disorders such as acne and hives and a slew of other things that sound like bad side effects from a prescription drug. The good news it there are about 10,000,000,001 things you can do as a stress reducer that will also up your energy. Here are a few:
1.Set aside “me” time
I don’t know about you, but if I don’t get to read a book whilst sitting in my bubble bath every night I am one cranky soldier. It seems like the days are getting shorter everyday because we keep cramming more crap in to them. When putting together your to-do list for tomorrow make sure you plan some “me” time in their FIRST. That way when the schedule is full you won’t be cranky cause there wasn’t some time for you just to do what you want to do.
2.Power Naps
Amy Mac (withAMYmac.com) is a freakin’ MAD GENIUS with her power naps. It is amazing to see her get the 3 o’clock slump. Instead of fighting it like the whole world does, she will go to the back room and lay down for 20-30 minutes. It is not uncommon for me to turn around 30 minutes later to a body slam from the top of her desk because of her high energy after her nap. I am always totally surprised! Not because of the amount of energy she has but because she wears one of those mexican wrestling masks and it freaks me out.
This is actually a common thing for a lot of offices. If you don’t already have a cot in the back room, ask your boss if it is a possibility to put one there. Any smart manager will allow 20 minutes of downtown to not lose a whole afternoon of work.
3.Cry
Who does not feel better after a good cry? (Except for men cause they don’t cry ever, ever, ever.) Traditionally, women cry more than men and I’m pretty sure every single one of them will tell you they feel better after they cry. Wanna know something cool? Studies have actually shown that the tears you produce when your angry, upset, or anxious contain STRESS RELIEVING HORMONES.
So there you have it all you have to do is set aside some “me” time, take a nap, and then get it all out with a big fat cry (and maybe some ice cream).
How do you de-stress? Let me know in the comments and I’ll check ’em after my bubble bath.
